As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the countless moments that made all the difference for patients and the pets they love. One of those moments belongs to a devoted patient and his senior Jack Russell Terrier, Dukie.
When the patient needed to stay at the hospice house temporarily, he refused to go unless he knew Dukie would be safe. The volunteer coordinator quickly found a temporary boarding spot and a volunteer to transport Dukie. A few days later, the two were reunited, tail wagging, hearts at ease.
Months later, the patient suffered a fall and was hospitalized unexpectedly. With no local family able to help, Dukie was at risk of being taken to animal services. But within minutes, our volunteers mobilized again. Dukie was cared for, fed, comforted, and then welcomed into the loving home of one of our retired vet tech fosters until his dad recovered. Volunteers even brought Dukie for visits, each one strengthening a bond that never wavered.
And when his dad finally returned home, Dukie was right there with him - safe, loved, and

exactly where he belonged.
This is what your support makes possible.
Every day, Pet Peace of Mind ensures that hospice patients can focus on what matters most, knowing their pets are cared for with dignity and compassion.
