When a hospice patient had to leave home suddenly for inpatient care, his first concern wasn’t for himself. It was for his dog, Keiki. He had helped the Pet Peace of Mind team to make sure her vet records were ready, her food and medications were ready, and that someone would come for her.
When the transport company arrived, Keiki tried to jump onto the gurney beside him. He reached out to comfort her, tears streaming down his face. He wanted so badly to say a proper goodbye to his precious girl.
Pet Peace of Mind volunteer Barbara arrived and gently gathered Keiki’s things and brought her to the hospice house so her dad could say goodbye one last time. He passed away shortly after her arrival, with peace in his heart knowing Keiki was safe and loved.
Thanks to the compassion of people like you, Keiki now has a new home and a family to help her heal.
